Pianist Annika Treutler, together with the Aris Quartet, explores a fascinating and largely overlooked chapter in the work of Jean Sibelius. At the center of the recording is the Piano Quintet in G minor, an early and powerful composition written in 1890, when the Finnish composer was just 24 years old—yet despite its expressive intensity and formal boldness, it is rarely performed.
Selected solo piano works frame the quintet, offering vivid insight into Sibelius’s distinctive style. Together, the performers create a nuanced interpretation that sheds new light on Sibelius’s early chamber music.
Recorded at the legendary Teldex Studio Berlin, the production benefits from the studio’s exceptional acoustics, enhancing both presence and detail. The album is released on the decurio label.
