Lukas Sieber (Violoncello) 


Born in 1989 in Mainz, Lukas Sieber is a German cellist and chamber musician.

He studied at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts with Michael Sanderling, earning the German Diplom and Concert Exam degrees. He furthered his chamber music studies with Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet) at the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia in Madrid. In 2009 he founded the Aris Quartet together with fellow students.

He has been teaching chamber music at the Frankfurt University of Music since 2022.

 

Sieber is 1st prize winner of numerous international chamber music competitions, including "Salieri-Zinetti" (Verona), "Johannes-Brahms" (Pörtschach), "August-Everding" (Munich) and "Joseph-Joachim" (Weimar). He was also a BBC "New Generation Artist" with the Aris Quartet, an "ECHO Rising Star" of the European Concert Hall Organization and a 5-time prize winner of the international ARD Music Competition (Munich).

 

As a chamber musician, Sieber performs internationally on the world’s major stages, including London’s Wigmore Hall, the BBC Proms, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Philharmonie de Paris, Herbst Theatre San Francisco, Bozar Brussels, New York Chamber Music Festival, and as well as in Shanghai, Beijing, and Melbourne.

 

Together with the Aris Quartet, 6 highly acclaimed CD productions have already been released. Further releases on Deutsche Grammophon and STAGE+ will follow in 2023 and 2024.
